Challenge #3: Alcohol Ink Monoprint
Sponsored by Eclectic Paperie!
Gorgeous work on those Fragments last week, everyone! Your creativity is just amazing, and it's been such a joy watching all the beauty popping up every day. You guys are incredibly talented. Thank you for sharing your art and making this so much fun.
It's time for our third Challenge, but before we get into specifics, let's hear it for last week's winners!
Congratulations to Chris Arlington, our Simon Says Stamp Shopping Spree recipient! Boy oh boy, are you ever going to have fun! Thanks again to Heidi and the gang at Simon! You guys are awesome.
Over at the All Things Tim group, the always-generous Gloria has picked a winner, too: Monique E! Hooray for you, girlfriend! ATT members, keep uploading your Compendium Challenge pieces there— Gloria is giving away yet another cool prize this week to one lucky member! (And if you're not a member, whaddaya waitin' for? Run over there and join this fun, supportive group of Tim fans!)
Now, if this wasn't your time to win, fear not! There's even more prize action happening right here this week! Read on...
Please open your Compendium of Curiosities to page 51, where you'll find the Alcohol Ink Monoprint technique. This is one of my all-time favorites! Alcohol inks are a blast to use, and you get such clean, clear tones with them. Plus, a little bit goes such a long way!
I hope you guys have as much fun making your project this week as I had with mine. The monoprint technique just naturally brings out the kid in me (yes, the messy, disorganized kid, but still...).
Okay, let's talk PRIZES!
The wonderful Daisy at Eclectic Paperie is giving away this awesome assortment that will make your future Alcohol Ink projects even more fun:
Check out the cool CIRQUE stamp set! These images will look amazing with the monoprint technique you're perfecting this week. You'll also need the best Archival Ink (Ranger, of course!), and some good glossy cardstock, which she's including as well. Speaking of which, Daisy has some great info about the type of paper you should use with Alcohol Ink projects:
"People think that all glossy is created equal and that they can also use photo paper. There is some kind of emulsion on photo paper that will react not so well with photo paper."
(Having made that very mistake myself, I agree. Photo paper + Alcohol Ink = Brightly-Colored Sludge.)
Daisy is also including a package of those sweet Maya Road Trinket Pins, which she recommends using as stoppers for your Glossy Accents bottles (what a great idea— I have to ream out my GA nozzle every time I go to use it!). She also says you can color them with Alcohol Inks to match up with your crafting projects.
To be eligible to win this groovy Eclectic Paperie treasure trove, all you need to do it create a piece of art using the Alcohol Ink Monoprint Technique, and link it here before this challenge closes at 11:59pm (MDT) on Sunday, July 4. The winner will be chosen via the Random Number Generator, and will be announced when the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #4 is posted next Monday morning.
Before I finish, I just want to thank all of you for sharing your amazing talent and enthusiasm for Tim's techniques! It didn't take long for me to figure out that the very best part of hosting this Challenge Series is that fact that I get to meet so many incredible artists and make some wonderful new friends. ♥
Now... go forth and MONOPRINT!
Hugs,
Linda
As always, out of respect for Tim and the work he put into creating the Compendium, please don't post the technique instructions on your blog. Of course, if you don't have the book yet, this is the perfect time to get it. Trust me, you'll be glad you did! Don't just take my word for it, either— check out Rinda's excellent review of the Compendium at her lovely blog, Gallo Organico!
